GHK-Cu: Skin, Hair, and Beyond
The copper peptide that started in cosmetics has serious systemic potential. Here's what the science shows.
What is GHK-Cu?
GHK-Cu is a small peptide (just 3 amino acids) bound to copper. It's naturally present in human plasma but declines sharply with age — by your 60s, levels are about a third of what they were at 20.
What it does
- Stimulates collagen and elastin production
- Activates wound healing genes
- Reduces inflammation
- Promotes hair growth (especially when applied topically to the scalp)
- Antioxidant activity
How it's used
Topical
The most common form. Used in serums and creams for anti-aging and hair growth. Apply to clean skin or scalp daily.
Subcutaneous injection
Less common but research suggests systemic benefits — improved sleep, recovery, and even mood. Typical research doses: 1-3 mg/day.
Combining GHK-Cu
Often blended with BPC-157 and TB-500 (GLOW blend) for full-spectrum healing and skin benefits.
Things to watch
- The blue color is normal (it's copper)
- Don't take orally — it's destroyed in the gut
- Avoid combining with high-dose vitamin C topically (can deactivate the copper)
